BUILDERS’ ASSOCIATION OF INDIA(BAI)

Builders’ Association of India (BAI) is an all-India Organization established in 1941, represents construction companies, builders, contractors, architects, designers, consultants, suppliers of building materials, hardware and construction equipment manufacturers and suppliers, has grown with both National and International level. Today, BAI has more than 20,000 plus direct members spread over about 200 plus Centres across the length and breadth of the country. Various regional associations affiliated to BAI, with 1,50,000 indirect members. BAI is represented by various small, medium and large Government organizations as an apex body and Construction Agencies in the country and abroad.

Builders’ Association of India, Karnataka (Bengaluru) Centre is having more than 740 Patron members and 3000 Affiliated members consisting of Builders, Contractors and connected traders including eminent engineers.

Objectives of BAI
The Vision

  • To promote and foster feelings of brotherhood, unity, cooperation, mutual trust and to eliminate unhealthy competition amongst the contractor's fraternity.

  • To build public confidence in the Construction Industry by advocating ethics in the business through transparency and accountability.

  • To establish a healthy and cordial relationship between the client, the contractor and the end users, so that all construction projects are completed without any time or cost overruns.

  • To interact with the Government bodies like State Public Works Department and the Central Public Works Department to adopt modernized methods in Construction Industry as well as Standard specifications in works thus ensuring suitable work ethics in the Industry. Award of Contracts on this basis will ensure uniformity and transparency during the execution of various construction jobs.

Actions & Achievements

The Predominant role of BAI is to undertake issues of common interest pertaining to the Industry. The individual chapter interacts with various Governmental agencies in redressing issues affecting the industry. Also, seminars and lecture meets are organized for members to spread the various schemes and efforts of the Government. Labour and Safety seminar is one such event in the association involved fully which enabled members to understand the legislation.

BAI is an affiliate of Employer’s Federation of India, Indian Merchants’ Chamber, Indian Road Congress, Indian Building Congress, Construction Industry Development Council etc., and has a permanent representation on various Committees of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI).

The biggest contribution of BAI however is to evaluate the price variation of formulas and arbitration clauses incorporated in the contract document by various works authorities.

ACTIVITIES OF:-

BAI, KARNATAKA (BENGALURU) CENTRE

Keeping abreast of the latest innovations and new developments in the global arena, through a well -established network, the BAI organizes technical seminars and exhibitions for the members periodically.

BUILDERS’ DAY is one of the main events conducted during the month of October or November. One of the important activities is to recognize the services rendered by the Construction workers from the member's sites. We also recognize workers children and provide them with scholarships to pursue their studies.

On Builders’ Day Eminent Engineer / Eminent Builder is honoured and conferred ‘SIR M. VISVESVARAYA MEMORIAL AWARD’ for the contribution in Civil engineering field. Also Senior Builders are honoured for their outstanding contributions in the construction field

TRAINING PROGRAMME

BAI, Karnataka (Bangalore) Centre has established ‘BAI CONSTRUCTION ACADEMY & RESEARCH TRUST’. The Academy aims to turn out well-trained artisans apart from conducting training programmes to Civil Engineering graduates, Diploma holders to enable them to get a suitable job.

The areas for skill development are:-

1. Building, Civil & Structural Drawings.

2. Reinforced Concrete, RC Beam & Slab Drawings.

3. Skills in Masonry, Bar Bending, Plumbing & Sanitation, Carpentry & Formwork, Electrical Wiring, Painting.

4. Hi-tech Construction Project Management.

5. Employability life skills.

6. Basics & Classification of HVAC Systems – for Mechanical Engineers

The training programme, supported by ‘Visvesvaraya Technological University Belgaum’, is one of the most successful programmes conducted by the centre and about 1000 Civil Engineering Students from all over Karnataka were trained so far. All of them have been placed successfully for employment with various construction companies in the past few years.

Builders’ Association of India, Karnataka (Bangalore) Centre has also promoted a Club at Koramangala, The Builders’ NGV Club for its members’ use. Cultural activities along with Sports activity is conducted annually for members and their families.

XII All India Builders’ Convention

XII All India Builders’ Convention was held from 23rd to 26th January 1987 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Bangalore. Chief Guest of the function was the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Late Sri Ramakrishna Hegde, Sri H.D. Devegowda, Hon’ble Minster for Public Work Department, Government of Karnataka, Sri S.R. Bommai, Minister for Revenue, Planning and Labour, Government of Karnataka

XXVIII All India Builders’ Convention

XXVIII All India Builders’ Convention was held from 19th to 21st January 2018 at Clarks Exotica Resorts about 700 Delegates participated and 65 Exhibition Stalls were exhibited. There was a technical presentation from 12 companies during the three days convention.

On 19th January 2018 morning session was the Registration of Delegates, Photo Session, High Tea, Technical presentation and General Council Meeting at Galaxy Hall and followed by Lunch.

Inauguration of the XXVIII All India Builders’ Convention was held at 3.00 p.m. at Ocean Hall. Chief Guest of the function was Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu and Guest of Honour was His Excellency Shri Vajubhai Vala, Governor of Karnataka. Presided by Sri R. Radhakrishnan, Convention Chairman, Sri H.N. Vijaya Raghava Reddy, President, Bai, Sri K. Subramani – Chairman, Organizing Committee, Sri K.S. Someshwara Reddy – Secretary, Organizing Committee , Sri B. Seenaiah – Convention Chief Patron and Sri Srinivasa Reddy – Chairman, BAI, Karnataka (Bangalore) Centre was on the Dais. Souvenir was released by the Hon’ble Vice President of India and the first copy was given to Sri B. Seenaiah, Past President, BAI and Convention Chief Patron.

After the inauguration there was visit to Exhibition, High Tea and technical presentation followed by Entertainment and Dinner at the same venue.

20th January 2018

Inauguration of Technical session by Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Hon’ble Home Minister, Government of Karnataka,

Sri R. Radhakrishnan, Past President & Trustee, BAI, Chairman Convention Committee briefed about the Technical Sessions.

Sri H.N. Vijaya Raghava Reddy, President, BAI delivered the Presidential Address

Chief Guest Sri Ramalinga Reddy addressed the gathering.

A Formal Vote of thanks was proposed by Sri S.R. Swamy, State Chairman, BAI

Sri Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Guruji, Art of Living gave a spiritual discourse.

There were two Technical sessions Dr. Sujit Kumar addressed on Aesthetics in the pursuit of Green Habitats

And the second speaker Dr. Jyothi Gupta who spoke on Smart cities

Second Session

First Speaker Mr. Rajendra spoke On the relevance of traditional construction techniques in the modern context.

Secondly Sri K. Sriram addressed about Affordable Housing & precast Building.

After the technical sessions, there was High Tea, a visit to the Exhibition followed by Entertainment and Dinner at the Fiestaa Resorts.

21st January 2018

The first Technical session was by Si S.J. Vijay (M/s. Salman Leap Inc) on 3D Volumetric Concrete Costing.

Key Note address by Sri Rajeev B. Bhatnagar, Head CSR & CST, L&T Construction.

Sri V. Suresh, Former CMD – HUDCO addressed on the subject "Building a new India" followed by a third Technical session by Sri Raj Pillai, MD Purvankara who addressed on the subject "New Age Architecture".

After the Lunch President initiated an Open house discussion and passing of Resolutions, Award function and valedictory followed by Entertainment and Dinner.
